Journal Page

Notice how the changing of seasons affects what we do?
Progress in my journal is slower than before because I now have to devote some time to yard duties but this is a finished page that I can share.  The background is stenciled with my gelli plate with some pan pastel added.  The flower petals are a die cut and I hand cut the stem and leaves.  I printed the text on my computer.  An art journal is a good place to experiment with various techniques before committing them to another project.

Courage

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  This year I didn't make any cards for the occasion, mostly because I had no stamps available.  I guess you could imagine all those hexagons as shamrocks and I'd be in there big time.

What I have been doing is playing in an art journal.  After I took this photo I erased some of the pastel around the word courage and liked it better.  The black corner design is stenciling, as it the big flower.  The background is pan pastels which are a really nice way of adding color, especially when a little goes a long way.

Stencil Byproduct

I may have mentioned that using stencils and the gelli plate can be a little messy.  I try to use up as much of the paint and ink as I can by wiping it across journal pages or cardstock.  And while I try to keep their use to a minimum to save trees, it is occasionally necessary to use a paper towel.  This journal page shows the right-hand page completely covered in paper towel that cleaned up green paint and then was spritzed with Dylusions in.  The left-hand page has just a strip of the paper towel but was spritzed with the Dylusions overall.

The second photo shows a completed page that I did over the background.  The graphics are actual wine labels and the leaf is die cut.  The flower is stamped and die cut.

I'd show you the other page but so far there's nothing on it.

Did You Sing This Song?

I may have mentioned that I'm spending a lot of time creating an album of "My Story."  I've searched through thousands of photos and scanned quite a number.  I'm taking a Digital Scrapbooking class to give me some guidelines and keep me focused and am making good progress.  Although this isn't typical of my pages, it's a sort of fun one so I thought I'd post it here.  I'm really amazed at how long it took me to realize that the lyrics were "real" words that actually made sense.

Newspaper Poetry

When we were in Oregon recently, I had very limited art supplies so I decided to challenge myself to see what the local newspaper would yield.  I created this "poem" but I have yet to use it in any way.  Sometimes I wonder how my mind works.

This I Know

Here's another bit of writing I did for my online class.  We have been encouraged to share what we write, otherwise you probably would never have seen this.

The Fastest Pitch

This was a layout I did after doing some  journaling for my class.  The page was created digitally, although I more often do regular scrapbooking.  I'm trying to branch out a bit.

Knotty

I'm taking an online journaling (writing) class that I think is very good.  We write on a given topic every day but we also have occasional assignments.  For this assignment we were to take a photo of something from afar and then get closer and closer as we continued to take more photos.  We were to also try various perspectives.  My perspective for this subject was pretty straight forward but I still found it an interesting project.  And I think my writing is getting better!
